'Dangerous Liaisons' Conceptual Design Set Model

I designed a set for a conceptual production of 'Dangerous Liaisons', a play adapted in 1986 by Christopher Hampton from the original 1784 novel by Choderlos de Laclos. It is designed for the Lyttelton Theatre at the National in London and presents France's 18th century rich elite, set against the impending knife edge of the French Revolution. The central parlour room is encased by three meter high mirrored gold windows which can theoretically be lowered into stage via the fly towers. Beyond the gilded, luxury interior lies a war-torn wasteland, symbolic of the bloody revolution that will destroy the grandiose lifestyles of the French upper-class.
